This Mercedes-Benz vehicle is not only the most expensive on sale, but it is also one of the most expensive on the road. You can spend over half a million dollars getting the top-spec Mercedes-Benz CL65AMG. It is luxurious, comfortable, and lightfast.

Every Mercedes-Benz CL, from the 4.7-litre V8 CL500 to the CL65 AMG, has the most luxurious interiors. The Mercedes-Benz CL should not be confused with the Mercedes-Benz SL. It is a car that can be driven and not driven in.

There are four options: the 4.7-litre V8 CL500; 5.5-litre twin-turbocharged V8 CL63AMG; 5.5-litre twin–turbochargedV12 CL600; 5.5–litre twin–turbochargedV12 CL600; and 6.0–litre twin–turbochargedV12 CL65AMG. There’s a CL for every budget.

The CL500 starts at $336,500 and the CL63AMG is available for $86,300. This makes it a steal at $422,800. The twin-turbocharged V12CL600 V8 CL600 costs only $2,300 less. The CL65 AMG is a more expensive option if you are looking for a sports car with 1000Nm, but it’s still a good deal.

The CL65 AMG’s features list is quite extensive, but you can spend as much as $22,500 on optional Designo Inserts – whatever they may be.

Performance figures vary greatly between the four versions, with 0-100km/h times ranging from 5.4 seconds to 4.6 seconds, 4.5 seconds, 4.4-seconds and then 4.4-seconds for the CL500 and CL63AMG, CL600, and CL65AMG.

The figures are quite surprising when you consider the power plants. The CL500 is powered by a 4.7-litre twin-turbocharged V8 that produces 320kW and 530Nm torque. A 4.7-litre twin-turbocharged engine powers the CL63 AMG. A badge with AMG will allow you to upgrade to a 5.5-litre twin-turbocharged engine that produces 400kW and 800Nm of torque.

The V12-powered vehicles go even further, with the CL600 featuring a 5.5-litre twin-turbocharged V12 producing 380kW and 830Nm. The CL65AMG is powered by a 6.0 litre twin-turbocharged, 463kW, and 1000Nm of torque.

This line of 2.2-tonne plus cars has some very impressive traits, including progressive steering and exceptional handling. However, you shouldn’t expect to feel a lot behind the wheel. The Grand Touring segment of the market is a target audience. Sometimes, the steering feeling can be quite lifeless.

The CL’s interior is a model of the S-Class and is luxuriously appointed. The ride is smooth, and it can take everything you throw at it. The cabin is very quiet, and the sound insulation is excellent.

Mercedes-Benz CL engines are all tested beyond their intended purpose so that owners can expect reliability and long-term use.

Mercedes-Benz CL has some safety features that you will probably never use. Pre-safe, stability control and night vision are all designed to prevent accidents. These systems can prevent collisions by braking the car and winding up the windows. They can also move the seats if necessary.

It’s easy for people to assume that there’s not much space inside the cabin from the side-on profile. The cabin is spacious, even though the roofline is shorter than the S-Class. It can also hold 490 litres of cargo.

The CL has everything you could want in terms of standard features. Satellite navigation, night vision and heated and cooled seating, radar-based cruise control, a DVD player, and a great sound system are just some of the CL’s features. My personal favourite is massaging passenger and driver seats.

CL buyers may not be concerned about the fuel consumption, but it’s here anyway. The CL63 AMG uses 10.6L/100km. The CL500 consumes 11.1L/100km. The V12 CL600 pushes that figure to 14.3L/100km, while the CL65AMG consumes 14.5L/100km.

The Mercedes-Benz CL range is the best choice if you have more than $330,000 and want to drive a luxurious, powerful cruiser. The Mercedes-Benz CL63 AMG is the best, packing a huge torque punch and a slew of features. You need to save some cash.
