Wheel Craft has built its business around one goal: To produce the best quality, most beautiful, and longest lasting hand-crafted finishes for BMWs, Lexus, Infiniti, and other luxury-brand original equipment factory wheels. Because our ICE (tm), wheels and rim finishes are tested in third-party laboratories, we can claim to be the market leader in custom wheel finishing.
The Wheel Craft Testing Process Unfolds
We at Wheel Craft test the adhesion of our wheels four times per year. We take a large spoke wheel and cut it into sections. Then we run each section through our proprietary finishing application process to ensure that the ICE finish covers the entire section. This is the same process that we use to prepare your ICE factory wheels.
The next step is to send the sections to an independent laboratory. There, technicians score them. In other words, they drill into each spoke’s face with a large X, effectively breaking the finish. Each sample is then put through a simulator that exposes it to simulated salt chemicals to measure the strength of adhesion. This is the measurement of the amount of creep that has occurred since the initial scoring.
How does Wheel Craft do in these simulators? Multiple tests have shown that our ICE finishes consistently measured zero creepage after 1000 hours. This is in addition to our initial score. Comparatively, independent powder coating testing has shown that after just 200 hours the coating was completely separated from the initial score.
